Friends of the School
We are very fortunate at our school to have a group of parents and carers that are and have been such an integral part of the school community for many years. In its time, the Friends of Garrett Hall have raised many thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in school in general.
But it is much, much more than just fundraising. The Friends of Garrett Hall exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school working towards a common goal. And it’s fun! Just ask any of the Friends Committee or helpers. Obviously as in any organisation, there are times when it is more ‘challenging’, but with the continued support of parents, carers and staff, our Friends have always succeeded in its efforts.
All parents, carers and members of the school community can get involved if they want to, even if they only have a small amount of time available, and all parents are automatically members of Garrett Hall Friends when they join our school.
The Friends of Garrett Hall are extremely conscious of the ethos and morals of our school, and they try very hard when organising and planning events to respect this. Not all of our events are run solely as fundraisers. Our children’s discos for example are run with the aim of giving the children a good time. One of our main fundraising events is our annual Fun Day that not only raises money for the school, but also brings the whole community together.
If you are interested in helping the school in other ways, you may be interested in joining many others of our parents and carers who are dedicated to raising much-needed funds for the school. They meet at regular intervals, but should you require any further information about joining please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you to the Friends of School who raised money to pay for our whole school pantomime trip to see Aladdin at The Macron Stadium in December 2017!
