Summer Events 2024
15th & 25th April - Year 3 visit to Northwood Farm
Our children in both Year 3 classes enjoyed their visit to Northwood Farm to start off the new term. They have been learning all about farming and the important role farming plays on all aspects of our lives.
18th April - Golf taster session
Well done to our Year 5/6 children as they took part in the ATSA golf taster session at the Boomers and Swingers driving range today. It look like you had a fantastic time.
17th May - John Muir Award
Our Year 5 children began a series of field trips today to start their work on the John Muir Award. They began exploring wild places around our local area as part of this study. The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places. It supports people to connect with, enjoy and care for nature, landscape, and the natural environment. The children thoroughly enjoyed their first field trip.
21st May - Year 6 trip to the mining museum
Our Year Six children enjoyed a visit to Astley Green Colliery Museum today. They learnt all about life down the pits to complement their work on the Victorians and saw the original pit headgear in action.
May - Nursery chicks!
It has been lovely to have the chicks in our Nursery classrooms again this year. The children have loved seeing them hatch and grow over the last few weeks.
1st & 2nd May - Ofsted
We are more than delighted that Ofsted recognised that we are OUTSTANDING in all areas when they came to visit us this week. We are so proud of all our children and the whole school community. Please click on the link below to read our fabulous report:
14th June - Coffee Morning
Thank you to all those who attended our termly coffee morning today. It was lovely to see you all.
1st July - ATSA Tri-Kids
Our year 5 team took part in the ATSA Tri-Kids competition today. They completed an exhausting long distance run, a cycle event and then another run! Well done everyone!
18th July - Year 4 Science
Our lovely year 4 children enjoyed an end of term topic treat today. They explored the digestive system by making poo!
17th April - Football team visit to
Everton FC
Well done to the Year 3 football team who played in a tournament at Everton FC today. They scored 19 goals and finished runners up! Well done everyone!
2nd May - Music showcase!
It was fabulous to listen to some of our Key Stage 2 children perform in a musical showcase this afternoon. Year groups across school were invited to hear children sing, play musical instruments and perform aspects of the music curriculum that they have been learning. Well done everyone.
13th May - ATSA football tournament
Well done to our girls football team this afternoon as they won the ATSA girls cup tonight. They scored eight goals and won a penalty shoot out to take away the cup. Well done girls!
Week beginning 13th May - Year 6 SATs
A massive well done to all of our children in Year 6, who have worked their socks off this week during their SATs tests. We couldn't be any prouder of how they have conducted themselves.
May & June - Sports Days
It has been lovely to see all our school sports days take place over the last few weeks (with a few delays along the way!) We would like to say a massive well done to all of the children who took part and thank you to all of the adults who attended for your support.
20th June - Rounders competition
Well done to our year 5 and year 6 rounders team who took part in the ATSA competition at Meadowbank today. The children won the competition and couldn't stop smiling! We are so proud of you all.
Week beginning 10th June - Ducklings visit
It has been an exciting week in school for our Reception children as they have watched our ducklings incubate and hatch in their classrooms. They even watched the little ducklings take their first swim!
27th June - Music celebration
Well done to our amazing year 4 children who put on a fantastic strings music performance today. You all made your teachers and parents very proud.
2nd & 3rd July - Year 6 leavers show
A huge well done to all of our lovely Year 6 children for delivering two nights of fantastic singing and acting in their Year 6 leavers show. You were all superstars and made everyone very proud. You will all without doubt continue to shine at High School.
26th April - Year 4 Futsal
Well done to the Year 4 Futsal team who played brilliantly in their tournament this afternoon. Scoring seven goals and only conceding two against the eventual winners. The children all represented our school superbly.
14th May - HH Kids parental workshop
It was lovely to welcome HH Kids into school today to talk to our Year 6 parents and carers about their upcoming SRE curriculum.
17th May - Farm visit to school
Our children in Reception enjoyed a visit from a travelling farm today in school. They had the opportunity to feed lambs and calves as well as learning about different farm animals as part of their topic work.
May Half Term holiday club
It was lovely to see Mr Parr and some of our children attending the ATSA tennis club over the half term holidays.
23rd May - Music event 
Well done to the children who took part in a music and singing event today at a local primary school. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase some of your amazing talents, well done!
12th - 14th June - Year 2 residential!
It has been wonderful to spend time with our delightful year two children as they embarked upon their first school residential at Bibby's Farm in Chorley. The children took part in a whole range of activities such as grass sledging, caving, rock climbing, rafting and pedal karting, to name a few! Everyone had a fantastic time.
26th June & 3rd July - INSPIRE
It was lovely to welcome our new Nursery and Reception children into school today as part of their transition into starting school with us in September. We are looking forward to welcoming you all into our Garrett Hall family.
2nd July - Fire service visit
Thank you to Mr Anderson and the Farnworth Fire Department for coming to visit us today. The Year 3 and Year 4 children loved learning about fire safety and having the opportunity to use the fire hose!
School is out for Summer!
We have enjoyed a fantastic last few days in school this week. From our end of year celebration assembly, our music concert and all the exciting classroom activities in our own year groups.
We would like to thank all of our Garrett Hall family; children, parents and carers, for a wonderful year and we look forward to seeing you all in September.
