Homework

Leading up to SATs, the homework focus will be reading, grammar, spelling and maths using the children's CPG revision books. After SATs, we will continue to set homework (perhaps not quite as much!) to keep skills ticking over.
Spellings

Spellings are taught in classes and a differentiated group on a Friday. As well as this, we have regular spelling slots in the daily English lesson and spelling challenges first thing in the morning.
By the end of the year, children are required to know all of the Year 3/4 key word spellings and most of the Year 5/6 key words spellings. There are also Year 5/6 spelling patterns to learn and apply.
Science

We will be working on our Evolution topic and then do a whistle-stop revision tour of all the science learned in KS2, before we have to submit teacher assessment.
Our Topic Learning:
History:
Local study on Victorian Tyldesley, and how it was historically a time of change because of the industrial revolution.
Art:
3D artwork inspired by Gabriel Dawe
Computing:
Children will begin work on Binary, spreadsheets and text adventures in computing.
Children will also learn how to create an online quiz and how networks work.
DT:
Children will design and make a photo frame to hold a picture of Garrett Hall or their friends.
Basic frames will be made by joining wood. Children will investigate how the frame will hang or stand, and how to decorate the frame to record their memories of the school.

Children will learn about and analyse Buddhism, Buddhist beliefs and Buddhist teachings, including the life of Prince Siddhartha, the Eight-Fold Path and The Four Noble Truths
