6th January - Welcome back

It was wonderful to welcome everyone back to school today for the start of a new term.

16th January - Circus skills

Some of our year 2 children took part in a circus skills session today and had a wonderful time!

21st January - Phonics workshop

It was lovely to see so many of our Reception parents attend the first of our phonics workshops today. We hope that you found it useful and it gave you an insight into how we teach phonics in school and how you can support your child with reading at home. 

29th January - Kurling

Youth Curling - Lesson 1 (SAFETY)

Our Key Stage 1 Kurling team enjoyed their visit to St. Michael's today to take part in the ATSA competition. Well done everyone.

Week beginning 9th February - NSPCC workshops 

NSPCC- Speak Out. Stay Safe. – Broughton Primary

Children in Years 2, 5 and 6 have taken part in NSPCC workshops this week around healthy relationships. 

26th & 27th February - Ian Bland Visit.

Over the last two days, we have had an amazing time working with the poet Ian Bland. All children from Nursery to Year 6 enjoyed an assembly performance from Ian. Each year group from Reception all the way through to Year 6 has participated in writing workshops and children then got the chance to share and perform some of their own work. It has been a fantastic way to learn about poetry and performance. We are now looking forward to World Book Day next Thursday.

4th March - Year 5 trip to Manchester.

Our Year 5 children enjoyed a day out at the Manchester Art Gallery and the Halle Orchestra today.

26th March - Pirates Ahoy!

Year 1 Pirate Dress-up Day

Our Reception children enjoyed a pirate take over day today. They took part in lots of pirate fun and looked fantatsic in their pirate outfits!

Our Mental Health Champions have been busy this week distributing positive affitmations around school.

Our year 4 children entertainned us with their musical talents in playng their stringed instruments today. This was to celebrate the work they have been doing in class with the Wider Opportunities project.

24th February - First Aid in Sport

We welcomed a group of local primary schools to school today to learn about first aid in sport. 

5th March - World Book Day

A huge thank you from all of us for your book donations for The Great Garrett Book Swap. We had a fantastic World Book Day! Thank you also to our volunteers and our Reading Champions who helped organise this event and kept it running smoothly so that the children had time to browse and select a book. The Reading Champions were amazed by the fantastic variety and quality of the books donated. Once again, thank you.

17th & 18th March - French days

Thank you very much to Mrs Hughes, who has organised two fantatsic days for the children across the whole school to learn a little more about France and modern foreign languages. The children took party in food tasting, games and lots of fun activities.

Thank you for all of your kind donations for Red Nose Day today. It was lovely to see the children happily supporting this cause by coming to school in their own clothes.

23rd March - Governor Day

We welcomed our governors into school today to have a look at the wonderful work we are doing. They spoke to our school council and wellbeing champions and had a look at some children's work. They were very impressed!

Brew Monday at Libraries NI: Free Coffee Mornings to Promote Mental  Wellbeing

Thank you to all those who attended our Brew Monday event today hosted by our Wellbeing Champions. It was lovely to have a catch up with you over a brew and talk to the mental health team. 

21st January - Yoga

      

Two of our year 4 children enjoyed a taster yoga session today arranged by ATSA. They took part in the session with a variety of other schools in the local area.

The Orchard School - Safer Internet Day 2026

The children have taken part in activities today to think abut keeping themselves safe on the internet. The focus for the day has been on the use of AI.

4th March - Swimming Gala

Congratulations to our swim team who won the ATSA swimming Gala yesterday, competing against 15 other schools. Superb team spirit, resilience and individual ability πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸ†

7th March - Cross Country

Well done to the Garrett Hall cross country team who competed in the Graham Jackett xc competition on Saturday at Leigh Harriers. All runners ran brilliantly and achieved amazing results, thoroughly deserved after the effort and hard work they have put in.

We hope you all found the parent/carer meetings useful this week when you met with your child's class teacher. Our Year 1 children enjoyed a lovely day dressed as all things Spacey! They enjoyed lots of space themed activities as part of the topic 'zoom to the moon'.

Week beginning 30th March - Aspirations Week

Aspirations Week | Gillibrand Primary School

It has been a busy week in school for our aspirations week. We have welcomed lots of visitors in school to speak to the children about their careers and how the world of work offers lots of different opportunities. Thank you so much to the parents and carers who gave up their time to come into school and speak to the children. It was wonderful to see the children finish the week off with a dress up day; showing what they want to be when they grow up.
