Our Harvest Festival

A huge thank you to everybody who sent in food for our harvest festival. We are overwhelmed by the amount of food that has been donated this year. We believe that this is our biggest collection yet. The children really enjoyed the harvest assembly this morning. We would like to say a huge well done to the children who spoke at our assembly-you were fabulous!

Once again, thank you so much for your generosity with the donations, we really do appreciate it!

House Captain elections

Today Mrs Beaty announced the results of the House Captain elections during our Monday morning whole school assembly. Well done to the winners and we would also like to congratulate the whole of year 6 who worked so incredibly well in their teams planning their campaigns. They were so supportive of each other. Thank you to year 5 also for taking part in the democratic voting process and not being too persuaded by the edible 'bribes' that some teams offered!! Our new house captains and vice captains can be seen our our house display in the front entrance of school by the main hall.

Garrett Hall does Hercules...

Some of our fabulous Year 6 children took part in a dance festival at Fred Longworth High School on Tuesday evening. Unfortunately the teachers were tied up with parents evening but luckily two of our dedicated teaching assistants went along with the children. The children were impeccably behaved and their dancing was phenomenal. You can see a video of the performance on our Garrett Hall Facebook page. Well done to all the children and staff involved. You were simply fantastic!

Garrett Hall remembers...

We have sent home a letter containing details about how we plan to commemorate the centenary of Armistice Day. We need your help in creating a poppy from a plastic bottle to create our commemorate art installation 'Garrett Hall Remembers'. We would like children to bring in the bottom of a plastic bottle. We plan to paint the bottles with red paint and decorate them to look like a poppy. We are excited to get involved with project and look forward to sharing it with you when it is finished.

A visit from the fire service

A big thank you to the fire service who spent some time with year 6 today with a fire safety talk. It was extremely interesting and the children asked some very thoughtful questions.

We're hooked on books!

This week the children were invited to bring their favourite book into our whole school assembly with Mrs Beaty. The children were absolutely thrilled to bring their favourite books into school and share them with their friends. Some lucky children also got the chance to stand up at the front of assembly and share why the book they brought is their favourite. The children were so keen to share their thoughts on so many different books. Well done everyone! We're hooked on books!
